Changing the Display Screen At Boot Linux Ubuntu

Bored with the look of the default Ubuntu boot screen on your desktop? try to replace it with another bootscreen display. Ubuntu Linux provides an application to change the boot screen, namely Plymouth.

Plymouth by default already exists at the first time you finish installing and using Ubuntu, with this application you can change the look of your Ubuntu boot screen with the themes that have been provided. How to install and penggunaanyapun quite easy, because it is Linux so of course you have to get used to the terminal associated with the application. :)

How to install this application in particular by:

1. Open a terminal Applications - Accessories - Terminal
2. type the command

     sudo apt-get install plymouth-theme

If you are using Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) or the latest version of Ubuntu, Plymouth is usually already installed, so you just do an update if there is Plymouth with the latest version of the above command.

3. Once completed we install themes provided

    sudo apt-get install plymouth-theme-fade-in
    sudo apt-get install plymouth-theme-glow
    sudo apt-get install plymouth-theme-kubuntu-logo
    sudo apt-get install plymouth-theme-sabily
    sudo apt-get install plymouth-theme-script
    sudo apt-get install plymouth-theme-solar
    sudo apt-get install plymouth-theme-spinfinity
    sudo apt-get install plymouth-theme-text
    sudo apt-get install plymouth-theme-ubuntu-logo
    sudo apt-get install plymouth-theme-ubuntustudio
    sudo apt-get install plymouth-theme-ubuntu-text

4. Once finished you just change the default Ubuntu boot screen with the themes you want
    sudo update-alternatives –config default.plymouth

5. Choose a theme number that you want, for example here you want glow.plymouth theme, so you just choose the number 1.

6. Restart your Ubuntu and see the results. :)
