A Brief Tutorial Using Rational Rose
1. preliminary
Rational Rose is a visual modeling tools that have many capabilities (powerful) for the formation of object-oriented systems using the Unified Modeling Language (UML). UML is a modeling language can be widely used in the modeling business, modeling software from all phases formation and all types of systems, and modeling in general from various formation /construction that has two behaviors of both static and dynamic.
This tutorial will discuss how to use Rational Rose to take a case for ease of understanding. However, this tutorial is very simple because the use of this software is very determined in the system to be constructed and its variations. This tutorial can dianalogkan driving a car with private lessons. car is a means of transport that can be used for various purposes, in private lessons are taught how to operate, gearshift, gas, brake, light sign, horn, etc.. Proficiency is determined driving many hours use with a variety of cases on the road and it was not given in these private lessons. For simplicity in understanding the rational use rose in this tutorial arranged in the following order:

- preliminary
- Explanation of terms that will be used
- Explanation of the parts of rational rose
- Explanation of how to use
- Case Study
2. These terms are used In UML, the parts used are: views, diagrams, and model elements.
a. View.
View shows the differences of the various aspects of a system that modeled. View instead of a graph, but an abstraction that consists of some diagrams. Only by defining a view, where each view show different aspects of the system and separated from each other, then the picture a complete system can be established. Rational Rose has four view ie: Use Case View, Logical View, Component View and Deployment View.
b. The diagram.
The diagram is a graph that describes the contents of a view.UML has several different types of diagrams that can be used to combine in compiling all of a system. Rational Rose 2000,has eight diagrams are: Use Case diagrams, Sequence diagrams, Collaboration diagrams, Activity Diagram, Class Diagram, Statechart Diagram, Component Diagram and Deployment Diagram.
c. Element Model.
The concepts used in the diagram is an element-element models that express the concepts of object-oriented in general, such as classes, objects, and message, as well as the relationships between those concepts including association, dependency, and generelization. A model element used in several different diagrams but always have a symbol and the same meaning.
